Overview
Ape's team aimed to develop fun and engaging DeFi tool for market participants. The platform would feature a native app for managing DeFi investments, MEV-powered yield strategies, and automated trading bots, all within an intuitive interface, bringing professional-grade functionalities to retail users.
The Problem
The trading experience for retail users was fragmented, lacking the advanced tools available to professionals, creating an imbalance in the market. Early applications often featured clunky Telegram-based interfaces with poor user experiences. Existing platforms were overly complex, with excessive features, difficult navigation, and a lack of essential MEV-tech capabilities. Ape's aim was to create something user-friendly, intuitive, and visually engaging for the general retail user.
THE PROCESS
• A true 0-to-1 project, working with founding members to define requirements and set clear goals for the application from concept to launch.
• Worked closely with stakeholders and developers in an agile environment, delivering rapid designs and iterations as the product evolved and requirements changed.
• Collaborated in parallel with their selected branding agency and artists to ensure the application reflected the brand’s playful and approachable vision, while implementing the ever-evolving brand guidelines.
• Delivered highly engaging and intuitive designs with rapid UI/UX iterations through wireframes, interactive prototypes, and fully designed screens.
• Revamped presentation decks, marketing materials, and other assets as the company quickly adapted to product pivots and added new features - accelerating user acquisition and fundraising.
The Outcome
The project proved to be a fun twist on typical financial applications. Within less than a month of its launch, Ape Terminal grew to 270,000 accounts and continued its rapid growth - quickly becoming one of the most popular investment platforms while boasting cutting-edge tools to make it the most powerful retail terminal in the industry.
While the initial application which focused on AI trading tools was well received, the company ultimately pivoted away from the trading app to focus more on yield generation and early-stage investing. The trading app was sunset but played a pivotal role in early user adoption and Ape Terminal's fundraising efforts.
Although the trading application was eventually discontinued, Ape Terminal was extremely satisfied with the design quality and speed of execution, leading to continued collaboration on their new products.
